SYMPTOMS:
· Hip and knee pain
· Severe stiffness
· constant
After Prednisone
· Severe fatigue and body aches
· Weaker muscles than usual
· Difficulty walking for more than half an hour
IMAGING INDICATORS:
· Joint space narrowing in the hip sockets
· Bones appear to be smooth
PREVIOUS MEDICATIONS / DOCTOR VISITS:
· Diagnosed with rheumatoid arthritis
· 10-25 mg of Prednisone per day
· Calcium Supplements (over the counter)
· Bone Mass Density: Tscore=-2.85, Zscore=-2
· Intact Parathyroid Hormone (regulates [calc]) blood test: 63 pg/mL (on the normal-high side)
MISCELLANEOUS NOTES:
· Passed two kidney stones (not enough calcium)
· 56 yrs. (close to post-menopausal)
· Can't have children after having 3
· Healthy weight:height ratio
· Used to play a lot of soccer & running
FINAL DIAGNOSIS: Osteoporosis
NEED STATEMENT:
Diane Chambers needs a hip implant so she can be active and play with her grandchildren without experiencing severe hip pain and stiffness or having to further take Prednisone.
